*** Begin important stuff *** We are changing the way you turn in your electronic copies. You have three choices: 1. Private folder on my computer 2. Floppy disk 3. Email (Reluctantly. I'm not a big fan of emailing large files when it's avoidable, but email is certainly an option.) If you'd like to have a private folder on my computer, email me to let me know - include your desired password. *** End important stuff *** Thank you to the person who send me the message (quoted below) alerting me that there was nothing to keep people from reading others' assignments. [Last semester, this system worked because I use NetWatcherPro to keep track of accesses to my shares. (I had a record of who accessed my computer and what files they opened.) I didn't realize until I received the message and tested it that the log no longer lists the files accessed. (Incidentally, does anyone know why this is or have a suggestion of a better program? :) ] Amanda At 07:25 PM 1/29/2001 -0000, you wrote: >The following form data was submitted to your form at http://home.cwru.edu/~aer8/engr131/comments.html: > >message = this might be a bit more cumbersome with turning in assignments on your computer, but would it be possible for you to have individual passworded folders for each student rather than one large passworded folder for the entire class? that would be a bit more secure than just having all the files for everyones assignments accessible by other students in the class. ideally, nobody will try to cheat and look at other student's assignments, but it is still very easy and very possible for someone to simply sit down at a lab machine and browse through the homework that other students have already turned in before doing their own homework. another possibility that could be good for turning in homework is e mailing them in. i suppose that e mailing exe files might get a bit cumbersome eventually (if our programs get too large), but it would (for now at least) be a lot simpler and more secure than simply dropping our assignments into a shared access folder. it would also work out well for students who do not have easy access to the cwru network itself (say, if they are off campus). >sender = Anonymous > > >
