Architecture at CWRU

Studying its Future

Updates

Status updates will be posted here as they become available.

October 30, 2001

Our report is progressing nicely according to the Gantt chart designed at the beginning of our work. Most of the work done so far has been research.

Kathy contacted ACT to receive their High School Profile Report, which offers results of students' tests and their intended fields of study. SAT, also contacted by Kathy, was not as helpful, as they provided no information after repeated contacting attempts. Kathy will organize the information from ACT so that it may be posted on the web site that we will create.

Stephanie created surveys to be passed out to ARTS 106, ARTS 302, ECIV 160, and ECIV 211. She finished writing the surveys on time. Each member of the group administered a survey to one course. Most of the surveys were returned on time. By the end of the week, Stephanie will have analyzed the survey results to create information for the web site.

Mandy has contacted Tim Shuckerow, and received both the course description and syllabus for ARTS 302 from his secretary. She has used the information from this to write about the architecture courses for the web site. Only half of the surveys passed out to the ARTS 302 class have been returned, due to lack of response and inability to contact Kurt Weaver, the instructor for ARTS 302.

Amanda researched architecture programs at other schools and found information on programs both for architecture as an undergraduate major and as a graduate study program. She has not yet found any programs similar to the one at CWRU, but she will continue to look. By November 3, she will begin using the information collected by the group to create a web site about our project. She expects to finish the web site on time.

Overall, our work has been completed to date according to the Gantt chart, although there have been some problems hearing back from SAT and Mr. Weaver. Since some of the research has not yet been completed, we have not reached a final conclusion. We will study our data and formulate a recommendation during the preparation period, before November 9. We are all aware of our upcoming responsibilities in order to complete our report and plan to accomplish them on time.
